Georgia will play against Faroe Islands
The game between Georgia and Greece was to name the rival of the Faroe Islands for fifth place and the rival of Finland for seventh place in the Woman’s 17 EHF Championship in Tbilisi, Georgia. In the first half both teams seemed nervous. There were several mistakes on both sides. Because of mentioned reasons the score was low but Greece was in lead. After the first quarter, the score was 7: 3.
Among Georgians a goalkeeper Khatia Jikurashvili stood out.
At the 28th minute Georgia managed to equalize -9:9, but before the break still Greece won 10:9.
The score was tie again at 8th minute of the second half – 12:12. After this thanks to excellent play of Lisa Chkhaidze (LB) Georgia came forward.
After the third quarter the score was 17:15 in favor of Georgia.
Next, the team equalized several times: 17:17; 18:18; 19:19; 20:20. The last score stood 7 most dramatic minutes. At the last second of the match, unlucky Georgian pivot Mariam Dvalishvili, hit the post.
On penalties which were as dramatic as the game itself Georgia won.
Best player of Georgian team was named a goalkeeper Khatia Jikurashvili and the best among Greece was Nikolina Kepesidoy (LB).
Khatia Jikhurashvili, the best player of Georgia: It was a really tough game. We played well but the opponents were not weak either. As you could see the score was draw in many times in the game. We did all we could to win. Girls fought to the end. We will work as hard as we can for tomorrows match, we will try fully to reach success once again.
