Serbia reached the semis
In group A of Women’s 17 EHF Championship, leaders Ukraine and Serbia both had 4 points out of two games. The leaders would decide who would get the first place before the last day of te first round of the competition.
In the beginning Ukraine took the lead, but Serbia equalized three times (1:1; 2:2; 4:4) and at 12th minute broke through – 5:4. After that, the Serbs put pressure on the rivals, and their goalkeeper Katarina Mitrovic played perfectly. The first half ended 14:8 in favor of Serbia.
After the break Serbs increased their advantage. Final result: 33:20.
Serbia secured a spot in the semifinals.
From team Serbia the best player was goalkeeper Katarina Mitrovic and from Ukraine Anna Havavka (LB).
Zivojin Maksic, head coach of Serbia: The results are again very good for our team, now we will prepare for tommorows match and semi-finals. I hope we will play as well as we did before till the end of the championship.
Katarina Mitrovic, best player of Serbia: The first half was not good, but after the break our one on one and collective defence was very good, that played a big role in todays victory. Our opponents were very good, escepially on one on play.
