Ukraine won the second match in a row

In group A of Women’s 17 EHF Championship Bulgaria and Ukraine played their second matches on the third day of the competition.Ukraine fought for their second win while Bulgarians for the first.

In the beginning, the Bulgarians seized the initiative, and took the lead – 3:2, 4:2, 5:3. However, in the 12th minute, the Ukrainians equalized the score and took the lead – 6: 5. From this point on, they increased the difference. As for the Bulgarians, they did not manage to score a single goal for whole 11 minutes. First half ended 9:12, in favour for Ukraine.

In the second half, mainly the teams did not allow each other to make a breakthrough. As a result, Ukrainka managed to save and even increase the advantage by the end. Bulgarians were negatively influenced by the red card of the leader Maria Tomova.

Final result: 20:30

The best Player of Bulgarian team was named Maria Tomova (LB), and the best among Ukrainians was Anastasiia Bondarenko (CB).

Maria Tomova: I think we gave everything we could to the game. We played well in defence, in attack. Our opponents were very good, they did an excellent job at everything, maybe that’s why they bit us.

Liubov Fedorenko, Head coach, Ukraine: Todays match was way better then the last one, but we couldn’t manage to breakthrough, there is still a lot to work on. We will fight to the end.
